Motorola will likely unveil two new Droid smartphones on Oct 27

Motorola and Verizon are set to introduce the 2015 lineup of Droid handsets at a forthcoming October 27 event to be held in New York City. The companies have already sent out the press invites for the special event.

Going by the indications from the press invitations, the 2015 lineup of Droid handsets which Motorola and Verizon is expected to unveil at the October 27 event includes two new Droid smartphones --- the Droid Turbo 2 and the Droid Maxx 2.

It is also likely that the some other handsets may also be announced at the event.

With the press invites for the October 27 event also bearing the image of shattered glass, it is being widely speculated that the new Droid Turbo 2 handset will probably come with a shatter-proof glass display.

Meanwhile, though according to rumors about the new Droid handsets, the Droid Turbo 2 and the Droid Maxx 2 will feature a 5.5-inch 2560x1440 pixel display; 3GB of RAM; a 21-megapixel rear camera; a 5-megapixel front-facing camera; and a 3,760 mAh battery. The Droid Turbo 2 will likely be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, while the Droid Maxx 2 will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC.
