Five Grand Rapids-area high schools ranked among top U.S. public high schools

Five high schools in the Grand Rapids area have been ranked among the top public high schools in the United States, according to Newsweek's latest report.

Newsweek's newly-released list of top 500 high schools includes East Grand Rapids High School, Rockford High School, Forest Hills Central High School, Forest Hills Northern High School and Grand Rapids Public City Middle/High School.

The above-mentioned five high schools have joined nineteen other high schools throughout the state in the prestigious ranking list.

East Grand Rapids grabbed the 53rd rank with a college readiness score of 96.3, while Rockford High School emerged at rank 247 with a college readiness score of 83.85.

Forest Hills Central High School, Grand Rapids Public City Middle/High School and Forest Hills Northern High School were ranked 250, 464 and 465, with a college readiness score of 83.65, 69.65 and 69.59, respectively. "Beating the Odds" ranks 500 schools that perform better than statistically expected for their respective poverty level.

Four Grand Rapids-area high schools, viz. East Grand Rapids High School, Grand Rapids City Middle/High School, Forest Hills Central High School and Saugatuck High School, emerged among 26 schools of Michigan listed in publication's beating the odds rankings.
